Under instruction from the current owners- a complete clear out of period furniture, collectables, antique lighting and machinery, original artworks, historically important kitchenalia and much more-- a treasure trove of scarce and rare period homestead artefacts, furniture and antiques with genuine South Australian historical importance. About Mossgiel Homestead (built 1841).... Scottish immigrant Alexander Anderson (1810-1884) arrived in South Australia in 1838 on the “Surrey” from London with his wife and a baby born on the voyage. Alexander’s brother Peter (of Archerfield, Morphett Vale) their father James and sisters Barbara and Susan arrived in 1839 on the “Delhi”. Alexander operated a quarry in Brownhill Creek before moving his family to Morphett Vale in 1842 and establishing his farm Mossgeil, with a three roomed mud homestead on 240 acres. The farm was passed on to sons Thomas and then Alexander and remained in the family until 1958.
